Caring for Your Stoneform® Flooring

Ensure that your flooring remains as breathtaking and resilient as the day you installed it. We understand that investing in your space means investing in its longevity and beauty. That's why we're here to guide you through the simple yet effective steps to maintain your Stoneform® flooring.

Keep Floors Clean

Regularly sweep and vacuum your floors. Dust acts as an abrasive. Keeping your floors dust-free will prolong the life of your finish and wear-layer. Use a vacuum that is suitable for hard surface floors.

Use walk-off mats at outside entrances to reduce the amount of dirt brought into your home.

Do not wax your vinyl flooring, or use any “mop and shine” products. The surface of your floor is very dense and nonporous, which prevents wax from penetrating and thus builds up a bed for yellowing and dirt collection. The same non-porous feature also provides all the protection against wear and staining that you will need.

Choosing the Right Products

For regular cleaning, a simple solution of plain water and a damp microfiber mop or towel will work wonders. If you're feeling a little extra, we recommend only using a pH neutral cleaner as this prevents the accumulation of a hazy residue on your floors. We're big fans of Bona® products and Mrs. Meyers Clean Day products. With the right cleaning routine, your flooring will continue to shine and impress for a lifetime.

Furniture Care: Preventing Scratches and Scuffs

Is a home even a home without furniture? Furniture is necessary, but without proper care, it can lead to unwanted scratches and scuffs on your Stoneform® flooring. For furniture that is frequently moved, such as chairs and tables, attach felt pads or floor protectors to the bottom of the legs. For heavy furniture and appliances, larger surface floor protectors are recommended. Although Stoneform® is designed to be highly scratch-resistant, like anything, it benefits from a little extra care. Avoid sliding furniture directly across the floor, as this can compromise its appearance.

Rugs and Mats: protection Without Discoloration

While rugs and mats add warmth, style and coziness to your space, it's essential to choose one without a rubber backing. Rubber backing can lead to discoloration of your Stoneform® floors.

Sunlight Exposure

Stoneform® has a UV protective coating on top of the wear layer which dramatically slows possible fading from sunlight.

To keep your floors in pristine condition, avoid exposure to direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time. During peak sunlight hours, use drapes or blinds to minimize the direct sunlight on the vinyl flooring. Most types of flooring will be affected by continuous strong sunlight. In addition, excessive temperatures are not good for resilient floors.
